The hunt began in Western Europe when French writer and puzzle designer Paul Regis Hauser, under the pseudonym “Max Valentin”, hid an owl sculpture somewhere and wrote a book called “Sur la trace de la Chouette d’Or”. It contains eleven puzzles and riddles that need to be solved in a certain sequence, which no one has yet managed to do. An important part of the puzzles are the clue-filled pictures painted by the artist Michel Becker, who is the sculptor of the legendary golden owl statue.
This coin is the clue for the first puzzle, Enigma B. The first puzzle is to discover the order of solving puzzles. In the book, each riddle has a certain number and color. These elements are related to the wavelenghts of the visible light spectrum and color theory.
This initial riddle and the picture of the owl figurine were combined into one design.
It has a high relief, digital, printing, selective gilding and comes in a box along with a certificate of authenticity.
