Through the work of Claude Monet (1840–1926), an entire artistic era received its name: Impressionism. In his paintings, he captured the effects of light at different times of day and under every conceivable weather condition. Monet’s garden in Giverny offered him magnificent motifs, especially the water lilies, of which he created countless variations. The painting from 1916 impresses with its intense colors, ranging from the radiant blue of the water’s surface to the red blossoms.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the artist’s death, the issue “Claude Monet – Water Lilies” from the “Crystal Art” series is a unique homage to the famous painting and its creator: countless precious gemstone crystals form an elaborately handcrafted mosaic of the renowned work.
