We are pleased to present the gilded proof edition of the third coin in the Mythos series.
The coin is inspired by the myth of Paris and the apple of discord, capturing the moment of Paris’ choice. Taking a step back and retracing the myth, the gods entrust Paris, a young shepherd of noble lineage but unaware of his ancestry, with the task of deciding who is the ‘most beautiful’ among Hera, Athena and Aphrodite. Hera offered him power, Athena offered him wisdom and glory, and Aphrodite offered him the love of Helen. Paris reached out his hand and gave the apple to Aphrodite. This choice led to a long and bloody war.
Reading between the lines of the myth, we glimpse our fragility, aspirations and priorities, but also our inability to imagine the consequences of our actions and the gap that sometimes exists between what we desire and what fate has in store for us.
The coin has proof quality, High Relief and gilding. It comes in a box with a Certificate of Authenticity.
